Many customers save money by switching to gas, but your actual savings depend on several factors, including:

✅ Your electricity kWh rate vs. LPG bottle cost

✅ Any daily gas connection or bottle rental/delivery fees

✅ How much hot water your household uses

✅ Your current heating system, i.e. an 20-year-old hot water cylinder

For most families, gas is 15-30% cheaper than electric hot water, especially if you're using a lot of hot water at similar times (i.e. the hot water cylinder is regularly heating up a greater volume of water). If you're already using LPG for cooking or are thinking about it, switching to gas makes even more sense for your household.

Based on our customers' experience, the average Kiwi uses around 100L of hot water every day (about the same as a 10-minute shower). That works out to be about 4kWh of energy which requires ~0.3kg of LPG.
